The icon for the Bachelor Gulch ski resort in Colorado's Rocky Mountains, the Horizon Pass Lodge sits in a saddle at the highest elevation in the valley with a panoramic view of the Gore Range. The architecture draws inspiration from the National Parks' lodges, its mountain-like shape echoed in the crown. Dormers and a deck punctuate the large sheltering roof form, creating visual drama. Exterior materials of stone and log, wood siding, and shingles blend naturally in the surrounding landscape.
Thirty-one spacious units range from one to six bedrooms. A penthouse occupies the central conical roof. Most upper floor units extend from one site of the building to the other to take advantage of the views. Some offer private elevators. Additional amenities include a heated pool, two hot tubs, a workout room, private lockers for ski-in/ski-out, and underground parking.
