The Saltaire Development group is developing a residential community on 500 acres of coastal property located in West Mobile Bay, Alabama. The property consists of nearly three miles of waterfront along the Fowl River estuary, scenic oak and pine uplands, wetlands and fresh water lakes all adjacent to Mobile Bay. Together in a relatively small area these different ecosystems overlap to provide a rich and varied landscape that occurs in only a few places in the world. The site is currently being planned to accommodate a mix of single family residences and multifamily residences. In addition, community pools, parks, open spaces and an extensive network of pedestrian boardwalks and walking paths will amenitize the property.
Saltaire's distinct architectural character is written in the historical language of coastal seaside villages. Its texture, materials and detail reflect the tradition, but it also adopts the grammar of Southern coastal geography, climate and modern sensibilities. The use of simple forms, familiar materials and muted colors create a vocabulary with distinct character that when viewed all together produce and equally outstanding and harmonious community.
The condominium project site is located on the Northeastern edge of the "Town of Saltaire" property adjacent to the Marina Village retail core, boat house/launch and waterfront. The project site is bounded to the south by the primary pedestrian boardwalk and the west by Logan's Lake. The multi-family portion of the project will offer 133 units with units ranging from one to four bedrooms. The structure will be six levels over one level of parking which will produce living spaces elevated off the ground allowing for views across the village to the bay beyond.
