Behrnt Aaberg AIA, LEED®
Behrnt Aaberg is an Associate at 4240. He has more than 10 years of commercial interiors, corporate, government, hospitality and entertainment project experience. He is currently the project manager for NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service Northeast Regional Office in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
One highlight project in his varied work experience prior to joining 4240 is the new Goodman Theatre in Chicago, on which he worked for three years from design development through construction while in the employ of a joint venture between DLK Architecture and Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg architects.
Behrnt chose architecture as a profession as a result of his continuing interest in the interaction and collision between the aesthetic concerns of art, space and form on the one hand and the scientific and engineering concerns of the design and assembly of buildings on the other. This interest translates into a level of thoroughness and attention to detail that serves clients and team members well. He brings a tremendous amount of value to the 4240 team by clearly and completely documenting solutions to design issues in a collaborative relationship with clients, consultants and team members.
As they relate to the extensively interrelated systems of resources, energy use, human nature and engineering, Behrnt is interested in issues of sustainability and reducing the burden that buildings place on the human environment as well as the role that natural forces can take in shaping the form of buildings.
Regarding Behrnt’s formal education, the well rounded curriculum and diversity of influences that are inherent in the liberal arts education from Augustan College complements the theory-based architectural education he received at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Bachelor of Arts, Augustana College
Masters in Architecture, University of Illinois
